WELCOME TO OUR KIND OF FARM

Grounded in Intention, Respect, and Natural Goodness

Tomgirl Farms is our four-acre playground and meditative temple. The soil is rich, the sun is generous, and our cultivation of life, community, and harmony is a state of constant evolution. T’s hours of seed catalog scouring, research, and meet-ups with other growers ensure every seed we plant gets plenty of love and intention before it even touches the ground. We grow all our plants ethically and by hand, in real dirt warmed by the Napa Valley sunshine. We treat this land like the treasure it is, with no-till farming methods, compost, and a whole lot of listening to what nature needs.

The secret is in the soil

HEALTHIER SOIL = HEALTHIER FOOD

Healthy soil is the key to healthy food. We aim to keep our soil planted or covered as much as possible, and we avoid disturbing it with tilling or other physical disruptions. Instead of “conventional” synthetic fertilizers derived from fossil fuels, we use homemade compost tea to enrich soil fertility and restore needed nutrients. We also put mycorrhizal fungi to work underground, letting these symbiotic organisms boost the health, resilience and nutrient density of our plants the way nature intended.

WHAT GOODIES DO WE GROW?

Springtime brings a spiky array of asparagus varieties, irresistible sweet peas, spring onions and garlic, hakurei turnips, beets, radicchio, chicories, and lettuces as big as your head. In the summer, the farm is bursting with show-stoppers: cucumbers that snap like morning frost, colorful beans that curl with anticipation, plums that can only be eaten standing over a sink, and a rainbow of 40+ heirloom tomato varieties that put supermarket fakes to shame. Fall brings vivid red Rouge d’Etampes pumpkins, ginormous Candy Roaster squash, delicate sweet brassicas and greens, scandalously lush figs, and pumpkin pie-spiced Fuyu persimmons. Fragrant herbs and bold blooms sprinkle the rows with color, scent, and a little extra charm – just enough to make you linger a little longer in the sunshine. Keep an eye on our Instagram for current hours and offerings – harvests change faster than the season on the farm.
